Betrayal or strategy ?

Katniss slowly falls for Peeta's personality as they work together throughout the training. What makes her bring her guard down? She swore she was going to do this alone because she was not going to jeopardize her spot in the games. But Katniss soon changes her mind and starts working with Peeta, trustfully.

In the games Katniss over hears a group of competitors passing by while eliminating another player. What she hears is nothing to feel good abou.t Then she hears his voice. The voice of her partner in training. The boy who had taken the beating from his parents just to give her a loaf of bread. Has Peeta betrayed her? Was this his plan all along? Is this a big joke and his plan to kill the group he's with or is he actually plotting to eventually kill Katniss?

It's just like those games of dodgeball when you make an alliance with your friend on the other team, and you play but randomly in the middle of the game she hits you, and you're out. Yes, you had an alliance but if she wanted to win, she had eliminate you. Of course this is a much different situation but the same terms. They didn't MAKE an alliance but it was clearly obvious. They were always together and they both kind of knew each other's strengths, weaknesses and strategies. They came from the same district! That's what made it kind of obvious that they wouldn't kill each each other unless it came right down to it.

  1. I like the dodgeball analogy because it fits the book perfectly. I think Peeta may be working with the careers so he can protect himself and so he can attempt to lead the other careers off of Katniss’ trail. Like the dodgeball analogy maybe he’s getting Katniss out of the game so she doesn’t get hurt. In any case I don’t think Peeta is genuinely helping the careers.

  2. Yeah, in a way i think the dodgeball analogy works for this situation too. I agree with what you said about how Peeta is working with the careers to protect himself and attempt to lead the careers away from Katniss. It makes sense that Peeta wants to protect Katniss and lead the careers away from her, so that he means something to her and their district wins, if that makes sense.

  3. I agree with the dodge-ball analogy, although when Katniss makes the alliance with Rue she would be less worried about being betrayed due to the sweet gentle looks of Rue. Also when she makes the alliance with Peeta she can have more confidence in him because we now know that two winners from one district it would be silly of Peeta to kill Katniss because they will protect each other and killing her would give no benifit to him.

  4. I also think that Peeta and Katniss will be the last two to survive, because they have shown to be very strong and together they would make a great team. However I think it is possible that either Peeta or Katniss may choose to kill the other, if they do they mightget more reward from winning the Hunger Games?

  5. I agree with the fact that it would be stupid of Peeta to kill Katniss because if he protects her and they work together as a team they can both win for their district. Katniss will have more confidence in Peeta when she can trust him and when she knows what he is doing, what his plan is!

  6. I Agree with Brittany first post because i think Peeta teams up with the careers to help himself but mostly to get Katniss safe. Katniss should not trust Peeta because she has no idea what his attentions are. Katniss will not be able to Handle the careers alone i believe.

  7. I think that it is true that Peeta teams up with the Careers to keep Katniss safe, but at the same time he has a safe spot for a bit. At that time Katniss thought that Peeta was betraying her but what other thing could it have been? To her it seemed like he was, because they never talked about that, and she wasn't wuite sure of his intentions.
